Synopsys Donations
Synopsys began formally donating to our local communities in 1992 under the leadership of employee-led Corporate Giving Committees. This program provided an opportunity to connect our corporate values with those most in need throughout the community. We are proud of the efforts of our employees that took the time to share their passion with the community.
Synopsys Foundation
Fostering Interest in Science and Math Education
Synopsys is dedicated to advancing science education opportunities that contribute to the growth and development of our future technologists and leaders. In 1999, the Synopsys Foundation was created as on opportunity to strategically donate to programs around the world. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated more than $11 million dollars to locations where Synopsys has a major business presence. Major Foundation objectives are:
- Partnering with innovative primary and secondary (K-12) science and education programs to increase the number of students pursuing science, math and engineering fields
- Support primary and secondary (K-12) science and math teacher professional development programs to engage students at all levels and support teacher proficiency
- Connect Synopsys Foundation goals with local community needs where we do business
Synopsys Outreach Foundation
Founded in 1999, the Synopsys Outreach Foundation promotes project-based learning among K-12 teachers and students in California and near select Synopsys offices. The Outreach Foundation offers teacher grants and training, grants to schools for materials and equipment, administrative support and project supplies. Additionally, the Foundation provides incentives for teachers and students who are developing competitive science projects. The Outreach Foundation is the major sponsor of the Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship, sciencepalooza! and science-o-rama! science fair programs.
The Synopsys Outreach Foundation is our signature program and the centerpiece of our donations at Corporate Headquarters in Silicon Valley. Annually, 130,000 students and teachers participate in the science fair program.
Grants Program
Synopsys offices around the world partner with local organizations to provide donations that support the unique needs of the local community. To that end, we do not accept unsolicited grants. Through this approach, employees and the Synopsys Foundation develop partnerships with a targeted number of education programs. We work with Silicon Valley Community Foundation and Give2Asia to help support local offices work with their partnerships.
Sponsorships
Synopsys is focused on hands-on learning for students and teachers, so the majority of our funding goes to program costs. On occasion, Synopsys will support fundraising events by non-profit organizations where we have a long-term education partnership. These are very limited in size and scope.
Due to the large number of event sponsorship requests that we receive and our funding focus, Synopsys does not sponsor charitable fundraising events such as walks/runs, etc. Through our matching gift program, we do offer a team match. Please see the matching gift program for more details.
