Overview
Hercules PVS is the fastest physical verification solution on the market. An integrated component of the Galaxy Design platform, Hercules PVS offers customers the performance and capabilities needed for comprehensive verification with foundry certified sign-off.
Fastest Turn Around Time
Hercules PVS was the first tool to include hierarchical processing and is the first to utilize a combination of distributed processing and multi-threading capabilities to offer users unsurpassed verification speed (see figure 1). Hercules’ core engine has been architected from the ground up to scale across multiple CPU’s, over several machines, to enable the fastest verification times possible. And, through the use of inexpensive Linux server farms, design teams save not only precious engineering time, but hardware cost as well.

Design Efficiency with Galaxy Platform Integration
Hercules is tightly integrated within Synopsys’ Galaxy Design and DFM tools including Astro place and route software and Star-RCXT parasitic extraction software. Since Synopsys’ Galaxy design tools are based on the Milkyway common database, these tool results are easily read into Hercules to perform DRC, ERC and LVS. With all tools sharing a single common database, time-consuming data translation steps, the risk of translation errors, and the headache of database incompatibilities are eliminated.
In addition, Hercules offers yield enhancing solutions such as antenna prevention and advanced DRC checks in the implementation loop. Similarly, a proprietary cross reference interface between Hercules and Star-RCXT provides layout designers with industry’s best cross reference annotation for transistor analysis.
Hercules is the platform for SiVL lithography verification software, which leading foundries are using to verify whether the manufactured mask matches the incoming layout from the designer, also called lithography rule checks (LRC).
Foundry Supported Sign-Off
Through partnerships and reference flows with the world’s leading foundries, including TSMC, UMC, IBM, Chartered and SMIC, Hercules PVS offers optimized, qualified runsets as well as proven correlation to foundry silicon. Production proven at 90nm for over three years, Hercules is used by leading semiconductor companies for its accuracy, turnaround time and capacity that is needed for their state of the art designs.
